The Eaglemon software (Todd posted a Link here) is used for the NanoP25RX.Alphaacres wrote:Can I use P25RXMon for the computer with the Nano?
FYI, I am able to use the Eaglemon program with my MicroP25RX.

I wasn't planning on an enclosure, but I'm thinking about it.

Re: The P25RX Nano
Using an previously configured SD card from a MicroRx, everything seems to be working great....including "eaglemon".
Signals strength seems slightly better, and audio "crisper", than the MicroRx. Have to maybe experiment with the gain settings.
My high tech cardboard semi enclosure adds a nice touch!
Quick question Todd.......after I finally broke through your "Fort Knox" bubble wrap, (compliment!) I noticed that two pins on the 40 pin header for the Wio were missing.
Since the device is working fine, I assume that they are missing for a reason and I did not break them???
Thanks for your excellent devices and your hard work!

Todd removes the two pins (the 3V3 pins). There are two pins missing on my NanoP25RX.NoHD4me wrote: I noticed that two pins on the 40 pin header for the Wio were missing.

Glad to hear it arrived ok. I forgot to send you an email letting you know that it shipped with newer firmware than what is available for download. I'll be updating the download page soon. I'm currently working to get more receivers ready for shipping. Some of the parts showed up later than expected.

Re: The P25RX Nano
One thing that took me a bit to figure out was that I needed to put memory cards in both the Wio and the Nano, I should have realized this way sooner than I did but in my defense I hadn't had all my coffee yet.
I'm interested in knowing what others have done as far as an enclosure goes. I definitely want to put them inside a protection solution of some kind.
Also, is it possible to have the Nano work with Rdio Scanner at all?
Again, thank you for all the great work on this product!!

The Wio Terminal does NOT need a SD Card.
At this time, the only thing the Wio can save on it's SD card are screen captures of the Wio display screens.

Thank you, that's good to know. From what I was reading I thought it required the SD card. I do like having the ability to save the screen capture if for whatever reason I may want to do that. I did notice that the Nano worked without the SD card but I wasn't able to do a lot of customization without it.

You are correct. The Micro and Nano radios both operate without the SD Card. The SD Card is only used for config backup/restore, etc. The SD card is not accessed when the radio is running.
Just like the MicroP25RX, The NanoP25RX has a .ini config file that can be saved to the Nano's SD Card (not the Wio SD card) is a backup of the config saved in the radio. This config file info can also be changed/adjusted/saved with the Eaglemon PC program.

Thank you for the support and feedback! I know there is interest in an enclosure and I am planning on working on this. It may take me some time to get this done. Right now there is no RDIO support. This could be something that could potentially be added to the eaglemon application.

The power is provided via the Micro USB connection. The power can also be provided via the Wio USB Type-C. Configuration and monitoring via PC can only be done with the Micro USB connector.

Or would I need to have all 8 channels set as INC_IN_SCAN=1?
In order to scan multiple systems (including secondaries) with the current firmware, you would have to have all 8 channels with INC_IN_SCAN=1 and roaming mode 5. I'll think about how we might find a better way to do what you are wanting to do. It sounds like we might need a roaming mode 6. Maybe it could scan channels that aren't active less frequently?

To scan primary, secondary, and alternates for a single system, then you would want to use roaming mode 3. This will scan until it finds an active control channel and then hold until the signal drops.

Assuming that all 3 sites carry different traffic, and you want to scan them all, and you want it to use secondaries/alternates, then you would need to use mode 5 and make all the sites you want scanned set to INC_IN_SCAN=1. With this type of configuration, you will be wasting time scanning non-active control channels (secondary / backups). If the sites all carry the same traffic, then it might be better to use mode 3. This would allow you to hold on a single active control channel while also being able to switch to the secondaries on a switchover.

Thank you, what you explained is what I thought I would need to do. For normal scanning conditions the way I have things setup right now ("TYPE=P" with "INC_IN_SCAN=1" and "TYPE=S" with "INC_IN_SCAN=0") will work, it would just require a manual adjustment if a control channel changes.
It would be nice if somehow the device could detect a loss of the 'TYPE=P' control channel and perhaps automatically enable (or change to 'INC_IN_SCAN=1') all 'TYPE=P' and 'TYPE=S' channels for the site until it detects the "new" active control channel and then perhaps change the "new" active channel to 'TYPE=P' and the others to 'TYPE=S' and disable (or change to 'INC_IN_SCAN=0') the 'TYPE=S' channels until another loss of the current 'TYPE=P' channel.

Thanks. Wording it like that does give me a good idea of how to implement a new mode. When a primary is detected down, then start a single scan of associated secondaries. If the scan results in an active secondary, then run a switchover function to make it the new primary.

If you have the sites programmed in and you are traveling, you could select mode 1 to "scan all known primary" sites or mode 4 to scan all sites (primary, secondary, alternates). Mode 4 will hold on a control channel when it finds one.

I've been working on an enclosure. It is still a work in progress, but coming along nicely. I think I have the bottom part of the enclosure and the replacement button just about worked out. I'm currently printing these parts with PLA material. I'm planning on using TPU-95A material for the top part. This is a rubber-like material that I hope to stretch-fit around the top and side-slots. I'll post some actual photos after the TPU material shows up.

It is coming along good. I'm trying to find the right material for it. I think PA12 (nylon-12)-CF might be the right material, but I haven't received it yet. FedEx is waay behind with many of my orders. I'll post a couple of images to show you the progress on the design. I have a top cover now. I think the entire enclosure will end up being compeletely matte-black with a carbon-fiber texture to it. We'll see what works best. As soon as I have an enclosure that looks like the final product, I will post images of the real thing.

What material are you using / planning to use? The best prints I have so far are with matte-PLA material. I received some PAHT-CF material this evening. It is already proving to be a challenge. I reduced the speed by 50%. So far, looking better.
