Undocumented Nano config settings
Thu Jun 27, 2024 9:35 am
I've been setting up my new Nano receiver using the preliminary user manual, and I've come across several setting that aren't documented:
[GLOBAL_CONFIG]
USE_HW_GAINS
DEF_GAINS
GC_MAX_GAIN
PEAK_DETECTOR
P1_SSYNC
PEAK_DECAY_RATE
[SITE]
LNA_GAIN
MIX_GAIN
VGA_GAIN
SQUELCH_DBM
Does anyone know the definition of these settings? Is there a more recent version of the user manual that explains them? I'm dealing with weak signals from a distant system, and it seems like tweaking these from the default values might be useful.

I do not have a nano... But looking at the Wio code... You can adjust your site gains in the Signals/Gain menu..

Yes, but there are 3 different gain settings (LNA_GAIN, MIX_GAIN, VGA_GAIN), and I have no idea what each does.

LNA is the RF low noise amp.
Mix is the IF / LO mixer amp.
VGA is the Variable gain amp.
Personally,, I would try adjusting the LNA and VGA to get the lowest EVM for each site.

Thanks- which brings me to another question: what are the "EVM" and "TSBK/SEC" metrics measuring?

EVM % is Error Vector Magnitude percent. It is a error rate /quality measurement of the signal. Low numbers are best (< 3%)
TSBK is Trunking Signaling blocks of the p25 data. Higher numbers are best (40 to 54.
