Wyoming WyoLink P25 question Empty Wyoming WyoLink P25 question

Sat Jul 13, 2024 2:04 pm
Our statewide phase 1 P25 system is on VHF.

We've got a site in town with 5 channels, plus the control channel.  We are about 3 miles from the site and we're on a hill overlooking the city, so signals are good.

A friend loaded me his P25rx receiver to try, and it's loaded with our local site frequencies and it picks up the TGs well, but when the trunking controller passes a conversation off to ONE of the VHF channels, the P25rx doesn't hear it.
The frequencies of our system are:  151.4825c 151.4975c 153.800   154.235   154.340 155.2125
Any time a conversation is tossed over to 154.34, I can't hear it.
I've looked at the signal strength of the transmitters on this system on my Icom R-7100 receiver, and the signal levels are all with 5db of each other.    However, on the P25rx, the control channel is showing a -59dbm signal, but on the rare occasion it hears 154.34, the signal is less than -80dbm.
No problem hearing trunked traffic on any of the other channels.

Any idea why one frequency would seem rather deaf?

Hey Todd,

Is there a possibility that the frontend circuitry is filtering out this one frequency?

Like some kind of DSP that you can tune?

I Loaned this unit to Kirk to try out.

Thanks

Bob
